PSA: NOT ALL “WATERPROOF” JACKETS ARE CREATED EQUAL
LET US EXPLAIN...
Ever had a “waterproof” jacket leave you soaked after being out in the rain long enough? Or one that makes you feel like you’re being slow cooked from the inside? Because we have.
Not all raincoats are created equal.
As a general guide, waterproof ratings below 10,000mm are better suited to lighter or shorter exposure to rain, while breathability below 5,000g is relatively low,
meaning heat and moisture can build up inside.
And some “waterproof” jackets don’t disclose their ratings at all. Red flag.
Element is rated 15,000mm waterproof + 10,000g breathable — meaning serious protection for prolonged rain, while still allowing heat and moisture to escape.
And yes, higher ratings exist — but unless your weekend plans involve trekking through a monsoon, you probably don’t need them.
The numbers matter, and we did the maths. Element combines serious technical
performance with effortless elegance.
She really is that jacket.
The Reviews Speak For Themselves
Everything You Need to Know
Genuinely waterproof — and there's a big difference. The Signature Rain Jacket is rated 15,000mm waterproof with fully taped seams and a DWR coating, meaning it's engineered to keep you completely dry in heavy, sustained rain. Most jackets labelled "water resistant" will eventually wet through. This one won't.
The waterproof rating measures how much water pressure the fabric can withstand before it lets moisture through. 15,000mm is a serious technical spec — suitable for heavy rain and prolonged exposure. For context, anything above 10,000mm is considered highly waterproof. This jacket sits well above the benchmark.
No — and that's the point. With a 10,000g breathability rating, moisture from your body escapes outward through the fabric while rain stays out. Add the back vent and cinchable waist for airflow, and this jacket keeps you genuinely comfortable regardless of how hard you're moving.
Whatever you like. The jacket is designed with a slightly oversized fit specifically so you can layer freely — a chunky knit, a blazer, a hoodie, or just a tee. The cinchable waist lets you pull everything back in for the perfect silhouette no matter what's underneath.
The jacket runs true to size with a slightly oversized fit for layering. If you're between sizes, we recommend sizing down. Sizes are XS/S (AU 6–8 / US 2–4), M/L (AU 10–12 / US 6–8), and XL/2XL (AU 14–16 / US 10–12).
Yes — machine wash cold on a gentle cycle using a technical outerwear detergent. Avoid regular detergent, fabric softener, and bleach as these degrade the DWR coating over time. Tumble dry on low heat to help reactivate the DWR after washing.
The DWR coating is durable but will gradually reduce with regular washing and wear — this is completely normal with all technical outerwear. To restore performance, simply tumble dry on low after washing or apply a DWR re-treatment spray. With proper care, this jacket will perform at a high level for years.
That was the entire reason we built it. The long, tapered silhouette and clean design means it works over a work outfit, a going-out look, or your everyday wardrobe regardless of the forecast. The rain just makes it more useful — the style was always the point.
